Emergency supplies: Daybags provide quick food and water | 10.13.2006 | 08:44:27 | Views: 6088 | ID: Supply chain issues will arise when a large natural disaster or terrorist strike inhibits the ability of emergency operations managers to move supplies into an area. More pointedly, when the general infrastructure is damaged, supply chain operations are seriously hindered. Already, there are churches and other religious organizations that have readily available supplies that can provide for a community. Daybags are packs (similar to hippackss) ready-to-go filled with quick-energy food such as fruit drinks, snack bars and other non-perishable foods. Originally used for the hungry and the homeless, the daybags are easy to distribute and are already stocked in many local religious organizations. If the daybag program is not already in practice, congregations and communities can easily create them using very small amounts of money. In turn, those bags can fit into a number of uses for emergencies or disasters as well as serve humanitarian needs during times of calm. Churches, mosques and synagogues already have many homeless and hungry feeding programs in activation. It merely requires communication with state and local (community leaders) to allow the programs to change their use.
