Red Cross working to expand community outreach | 04.25.2007 | 07:38:19 | Views: 5804 | ID: April 25 '07: According to the American Red Cross press announcement, a series of four Community Relations Liaison trainings will work "to build a more culturally competent organization" helping to increase community outreach. About 200 people will be recruited to "serve as Community Relations Liaisons ... Participants include Red Cross volunteers and employees and representatives from diverse organizations with which local Red Cross units work." Funding for the new community outreach program is provided by Home Depot "as part of a partnership between the two organizations to educate 1 million people on disaster preparedness and to support Red Cross disaster readiness efforts," the press release announced.
