Kansas town rebuilds after tornado | 05.07.2007 | 08:31:53 | Views: 7127 | ID: May 7 '07: Local residents in Greensburg, Kansas are beginning to return and rebuild after a tornado flattened the town on Friday, CNN reported. However, efforts are hampered by a lack of resources and several incidents of looting in the aftermath, local news sources reported. The tornado left a mile-wide stretch of devastation "beyond belief," according to Governor Kathleen Sebelius but resources are low because they are being used in Iraq. Additionally, four Fort Riley soldiers, one reserve police officer and two people not belonging to the American Red Cross, but wearing the uniforms, were arrested for looting in the area. Local officials were still looking for possible victims trapped under the rubble, CNN reported. "Searchers spent the weekend sifting through the debris and are still hoping to account for residents who fled as the storm approached." Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting of the Kansas National Guard told CNN, "Virtually the entire city has been destroyed. ... It's as bad as anything I've seen."
