Weather Channel releases severe weather alert service | 06.12.2007 | 11:12:20 | Views: 6511 | ID: June 12 '07: The Weather Channel has released a new location-sensitive personalized severe weather alert service that can release information about weather emergencies via SMS texting, or email, a press release announced. According to the press release, the personal alert service "makes it easier than ever for individuals in severe weather-prone regions, or anywhere, to control when and where valuable, relevant weather information is delivered to them." Currently, the WC's website handles about 82.5 million visitors, the press release continued. Of the features the WC is offering, having alerts sent via SMS or email will help travelers get location-sensitive weather alerts so they can prepare for any weather-related contingency.
