Small business emergency preparedness seminar in El Paso | 06.28.2007 | 08:18:27 | Views: 5530 | ID: June 28 '07: In El Paso, Texas, on June 28 a partnership between the city's mayor office, academia and the business community is partnering to hold an emergency preparedness seminar designed to help small businesses in the area, develop business continuity plans, the El Paso Times reported. The seminar is being held through a partnership between the Institute for Economic Development's San Antonio Small Business Development Center, the El Paso Community College Small Business Development Center, and the El Paso Mayor's Office. According to the El Paso Times, the seminar will be opened by John Cook who will "set the stage focusing on the importance of having a plan in case of an emergency followed by Chief (Don) Burger who will talk about some of the most common types of disasters that small business owners can expect and discuss what the city of El Paso has in place." Other events at the seminar will include members from FEMA, the private sector and academics who will discuss other aspects of emergency response and preparedness.
