North Carolina community hosts hurricane preparedness forum | 07.20.2007 | 04:15:20 | Views: 6461 | ID: July 20 '07: Some of North Carolina's top emergency officials will be on-hand for a hurricane preparedness forum in Brunswick County the Myrtle Beach Online reported. The forum's goal is to help residents, and especially new residents, learn the steps they can take to prepare their families for hurricane season. Officials told the local paper it was important to hold the forum because many residents had never weathered a hurricane. "The forum will deal with preparedness, evacuation, shelters and other hurricane-related topics that are routine for people who have been through a hurricane. It will also look at the storms from the perspective of Bryan Beatty, secretary of the State Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, which includes statewide emergency management issues," the Myrtle Beach Online reported. "Brunswick residents who to the forum will learn the specifics of what they need to do to prepare for storms and where they can get information to help them decide how to react to the changing weather conditions," the paper continued. The forum will be held at the Odell Williamson Auditorium, Brunswick Community College on July 26 and 27 from 7 to 9 p.m.
