The Northwest Arkansas' News Source reported the event was hosted by the Institute for Corporate and Public Safety at the Northwest Arkansas Community College. Ricky Tompkins, the ICPS director said event organizers wanted to give families the opportunity to learn "something they can use right now." Tompkins also said "We took out the terrorism aspect because that's not a likely event. Even though we do this curriculum nationwide, we live in northwest Arkansas. We want to make sure our community is ready." The event was so well-attended there will be another scheduled for November. Local response officials said the community's response to the program was positive. Participants said the event helped because it helped to crystallize vital information about ways in which responders can be reached in times of crisis.
