VA launches Spanish-language emergency preparedness website | 10.05.2007 | 08:08:08 | Views: 6206 | ID: October 5 '07: Virginia officials have announced a new Spanish-language emergency preparedness website to help the Latino community prepare for disasters, CBS 6 in Richmond reported. The site, called ListoVirginia.gov "is an important step to reaching out to all Virginians," Michael M. Cline, the state coordinator for the Department of Emergency Management said. The new site's launch coincided with an educational campaign targeting Spanish speakers through public service announcements during Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month "which runs through October 15," CBS reported. On the website, information for city mayors, residents and families can be found as well as information on how to prepare for hurricane season. There are also resources and links for businesses to help learn how they can prepare their employees for possible disasters.
