Virginia community hospital uses imaging technology to share information | 12.13.2007 | 07:23:07 | Views: 6119 | ID: December 13 '07: In a press release, the Culpeper Regional Hospital in Virginia has announced the deployment of a visual imaging and information-shairng technology designed to help medical and health officials prepare for pandemic diseases and biological terrorism. The technology VisualDX will help to provide remote imaging capabilities for clinicians and hospital officials. The move to use the software is in response to a request by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management that all health institutions have the imaging capabilities to help prepare for incidents such as a pandemic or a biological terrorist attack. The press release said the VIsualDX technology, developed by Local Images, has the capability to be customized "to inform clinicians of public health alerts, reporting requirements, and notification needs right at the point of care." The technology's "extensive knowledge base of over 900 diagnosis, including more than 16,000 medical images and one-of-a-kind findings-based search platform" will help health officials sharing information in the event that travel is not available.
