Cox Enterprises launches crisis management site | 01.22.2008 | 09:23:05 | Views: 6313 | ID: January 22 '08: Security Solutions.com reported that Cox Enterprises has launched a new crisis management site for its employees and business partners. On the site, the company has provided emergency readiness, preparedness and response information including pamphlets for families on such topics as national emergencies, pandemics and school safety. However, according to the site, "much of the current content ... focuses on what to do in preparation for" a global outbreak of avian flu. The site is using the Send Word Now emergency messaging system which has worked in the past with the City of New York for an emergency messaging services pilot using phone, email, SMS and reverse 911. In the recent past, the company has engaged in several large disaster response programs working to mitigate the damage caused by the wildfires in California, hurricane relief for Katrina, Rita and Wilma as well as tsunami relief. During Hurricane Katrina, Security Solutions reported the company helping to locate about 400 employees so that they could receive relief assistance immediately after the storm hit the Gulf Coast.(Click below to download file) oshapandemic.pdf
