RAE Systems deploys sensor network technology during TOPOFF 4 | 02.07.2008 | 15:22:00 | Views: 6640 | ID: February 7 '08: RAE Systems was selected to deploy a wireless AreaRAE toxic gas and radiation sensor network during the TOPOFF 4 exercises held in Guam and Oregon last October, a press release announced. "The sensor network that was deployed for the Guam portion of the exercise included AreaRAE Steel monitors with radiation and toxic gas detection capability as well as PlumeRAE for toxic cloud measurement and tracking," the press release quoted President of Industrial Hygiene Professionals Jack Fernandez. Over secure Internet connections, first responders participating in the TOPOFF 4 exercise using the RAE technology were able to "use GPS locations as well as topological map exposure patterns to plan their response," the press release read. According to RAE's website, the AreaRAE "allows real-time data transmissions with a base controller located up to two miles away from the AreaRae detector. A persona computer can be used as the base station for an AreaRAE system."
