San Diego releases after action report on wildfire response | 03.10.2008 | 09:15:54 | Views: 5507 | ID: March 10 '08: Texas A&M University's Home Station blog which covers topics related to homeland security (HLS) reported that San Diego County has released an after action report covering the 2007 wildfires. County officials said that planning, training, equipment procurement and exercises before the fires since the last major wildfires in 2003 resulted in the best possible response from county, regional and state first responders and emergency management personnel, Home Station reported. The after action report highlights the county's response apparatus on a day-by-day basis and said that "newly developed county, city, and community evacuation plans were implemented for the first time. These plans were used to assist the San Diego County Sheriff's Department in issuing evacuation order for an estimated 515,000 county residents through the use of the Reverse 911 and AlertSanDiego mass-notification systems," - the largest fire evacuation in US history.
