Officials said the new network would be online for the 2008 hurricane season. The new network will have four air-liftable vehicles which will be able to provide "the ability to rapidly establish a wireless Incident Area Network capable of supporting first responder communications at both the state and local level upon arrival at an incident." Scott Van Zant Sr., the Information Management Brach Chief for the Florida National Guard said in the press release, "This Regional Emergency Response Network equipment is an integral part of the FLNG's ability to provide communications capabilities to a disaster area. By Placing this equipment within a prime mover vehicle, first responders across a range of local, state and federal agencies have critical communications capability when they need it most." The new network will offer voice, data and video communications capabilities. The satellite network's communication hub is not located in Florida, company officials said, to help keep continuity of operations guaranteed.
