Google Health launched | 05.20.2008 | 07:08:17 | Views: 6141 | ID: May 20 '08: Wired's blog reported Google's announcement of its online personal health information service Google Health. The Associated Press reported that the service seeks to give "users instant electronic access to their health histories ... the service lets users link information from a handful of pharmacies and care providers." The launch of the Google Health comes after announcements earlier this year by the search engine company which partnered with the Cleveland Clinic to enroll up to 10,000 patients into the personal health record system called eCleveland Clinic MyChart. "It will test secure exchange of patient medical record data such as prescriptions, conditions and allergies between their Cleveland Clinic PHR to a secure Google profile in a live clinical delivery," the Cleveland Clinic's press release announced. "The ultimate goal of this patient-centered and controlled model is to give patients the ability to interact with multiple physicians, healthcare service providers and pharmacies." Some critics of Google's service have raised privacy concerns, the AP reported. National Blueprint Tags: Communication & Public Information, Public Health & Medical.
