DHS and universities work to promote research, development and education | 01.04.2007 | 07:05:03 | Views: 5413 | ID: January 4 '07: The Department of Homeland Security has announced its first annual University Network Summit on Research and Education that will join members of the private sector, academia and the public sector to promote the development of new ideas to protect the U.S. against the threat of terrorism and to prepare communities for disaster response. The conference is sponsored by DHS' Centers for Excellence which funds university projects related to homeland security and helps to develop "centers of multi-disciplinary research where important fields of inquiry can be analyzed and best practices developed, debated, and shared," the CoE's webiste read. The conference will be held March 15 - 16 at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington D.C.. Attendees will participate in seminars relating to: Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events; Food and Agricultural Defense; Studies of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism; Preparedness and Catastrophic Event Response; Information Analysis and Visualization.
