Pennsylvania officials to plan emergency response exercise to test new management technology | 03.07.2007 | 14:51:48 | Views: 5529 | ID: March 7 '07: According to a web release emergency management officials in Pennsylvania are planning to test a new emergency field management technology designed to increase field situational awareness. Members of South Central Regional Counter Terrorism Task Force will test the Incident Collaborator technology later this year. According to the web release, "The IC provides a platform for communication, incident management, and incident command structure support. ... The system also supports message delivery and receipt from the state incident management system know as PIERS." The IC technology will help emergency management operators "evaluate surrounding infrastructure, and access all available human and material resources." Part of the problem with emergency management in the field, officials have said, is understand and knowing what the resources and the manpower available are in order to expedite a response. Currently, the Department of Homeland Security has been working on a credentialling system which will catalogue those responders who are in a specific area answering to a threat, or an emergency.
