Communications company working with Richmond response services to create seamless communications network | 04.11.2007 | 06:51:40 | Views: 5599 | ID: April 11 '07: WiFi-Planet reported that in Richmond, Virginia emergency response service officials have been working with the communications technology company InMotion to create seamless wireless communications and data-transfer networks to help with response operations. By utilizing technology that piggy-backs off of whatever available wireless network is available, InMotion has been able to provide the Richmond Ambulance Authority with a communications system that works 90 percent of the time. InMotion's communications technology is able to use a signal from cell phone towers, private IP's, satellite or WiFi networks. Though there are existing frequencies for responder services, the usability of the 4.9 GHz is limited because "implementation of those networks is going to take a long time," InMotion CEO Kirk Moir. Instead, while the 4.9 networks are being developed, Moir said his company can provide timely communications abilities to emergency response services to help integrate data and voice communications.
