Texas and Oklahoma communities hit by torrential rains | 06.29.2007 | 06:45:54 | Views: 6732 | ID: June 29 '07: According to the Associated Press, the torrential rains which have killed at least 12 people in Texas and Oklahoma are projected to stay for the next couple of days, exacerbating the flood levels and pushing emergency responses. Evacuation orders for 2,00 of Parker County, Texas were issued while in San Antonio there have been 52 street closures and 43 high-water rescue calls made. In Marble Falls, Texas, about 7,200 people were without running water while the town's water treatment plant was affected by the high flood waters. Additionally, in San Antonio, power outages have been reported in the downtown area though power reps told local papers that they had the outages under control. In Oklahoma roads were washed out while flood warnings have been issued for Southern parts of the state. Officials told the AP in Texas that despite the continued forecasted rain showers the bulk of the precipitation was over. "We're through the crisis point and now we're at the point it's time to roll up our sleeves and get dirty," Marble Falls Mayor Raymond Whitman said.
