Corporate disaster group works to provide preparedness for business continuity and able emergency response | 08.13.2007 | 07:18:46 | Views: 5559 | ID: August 13 '07: On August 14 at the Middle Country Public Library on Long Island, New York, the Contingency Planning Exchange will host the Catastrophe Readiness Fair. The event seeks to help teach businesses how to respond and prepare for disasters. The fair anticipates September's National Preparedness Month the Long Island Business News reported. CPE is a nation-wide group with the goal of providing its members with "ideas and resources to continually enhance business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis/emergency management strategies and tools through high profile educational programs, and by encouraging relationships with peers and working with government to promote public/private sector interaction." Members of local responder groups, government officials, members of academia and meteorologists will be on hand at the readiness fair. Planners hope that the fair will provide an opportunity for local business leaders to "meet a cross section of preparedness and response companies and organizations that are available to businesses and not-for-profit organizations with their contingency planning and preparedness efforts." Other companies like Alexander Wall have been working in the Long Island area to help businesses plan and strategize ways to increase their continuity and response planning, the Long Island Business News reported.
