Architecture group working in New Orleans after Katrina turns to Peru | 08.22.2007 | 08:30:06 | Views: 6033 | ID: August 22 '07: Inhabitat reported that in the aftermath of the 2007 Peru Earthquake which has already claimed 500 people, the architecture group Architecture for Humanity has begun to look for donations to help response and recovery efforts for more stable and safer buildings in the affected communities. The group had focused their other reconstruction efforts on those communities affected by Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast and in New Orleans - projects such as historic preservation to helping to design community centers through partnerships with local design firms and other organizations. For Peru, the group is looking to help build an earthquake shelter and earthquake resistant homes. Those schemas, displayed on the Open Architecture website, are available to the public to help with development and collaboration in order to improve the designs to help in the field immediately after a disaster. Architecture for Humanity is asking for donations to help fund their efforts in Peru.
