Among those held, the New York Downtown Hospital is holding its fifth annual emergency preparedness symposium. Topics during the Downtown Hospitals' event will include break-out sessions focusing on table top exercises on burn victims fire preparedness; a lessons-learned from the outbreak of SARS in Canada as well as pandemic influenza preparedness and response; and Community Emergency Response Teams and their accreditation. As well, next week, the Primary Care Development Corps will hold its National Summit on Primary Care Emergency Preparedness. The event "will convene stakeholders including physicians and public health officials," the Sun reported. Also, "The New York Academy of Medicine launched an online tool yesterday to help households, offices, schools and governmental agencies evaluate and improve their emergency preparedness programs," called Redefining Readiness,the Sun continued.
