New medical disaster segment on XFM radio show | 09.05.2007 | 07:48:17 | Views: 6869 | ID: September 5 '07: During September's National Preparedness Month, XFM's ReachMD, will air a new series highlighting emergency disaster and response medicine, a press release announced. The new series, entitled, Disaster Medicine and Emergency Preparedness, "will highlight, at least one, of the following areas; current procedures on public policy of Emergency Preparedness, success and failures in the aftermath of events (including the Minneapolis bridge collapse vs. Katrina), stages of preparedness at hospitals and critical care centers, Military treatments, PTSD signs and treatments for victims of disasters, personal accounts for doctor's on the scene of disasters and much more." The series was inspired by the attacks on September 11, 2001, Hurricanes Rita, Katrina and Wilma, as well as the Virginia Tech Shootings, and the recent bridge and mine collapses, organizers said in the press release. The series can be heard on XFM station 223. Guests on the show will include those who have responded to the aforementioned emergencies, as well as local, state and government emergency medicine officials.
