Milwaukee partners to install surveillance system | 03.03.2008 | 14:36:57 | Views: 6371 | ID: March 3 '08: Wi4Net has announced a new partnership with the City of Milwaukee to install wireless surveillance cameras and a network monitoring facility, a press release announced. Along with the partnership is Pivot3 Inc., makers of high capacity and high definition digital storage. "The first phase of the project includes a wireless 4.9 GHz-based backhaul network throughout the city's 97 square miles," the press release reported. "Initially connecting 15 cameras, the network is designed to scale to more than a hundred cameras in the future. Video is streamed to a centralized monitoring center, including a highly scalable storage solution from Pivot3 equipped with 18 terabytes of raw storage capacity." Officials said that the partnership and its components represent a flexibility in the city's ability to increase its storage capacity and to take advantage of the the licensed 4.9GHz spectrum which helps municipal agencies share information on a variety of formats such as video, messaging, data, voice with added encryption capability.
