Open Architecture Network combines thousands of ideas to create best practices

July 18 '07: The Open Architecture Network is an online community forum dedicated to helping "to work together to address shelter needs after disaster, in informal settlements and in our own communities." The website allows users to post their ideas about portable, sustainable, and immediate shelters using recycled, reused or refurbished materials.
Partners of OAN include Sun Microsystems, Hot Studio, Creative Commons and AMD.

The central idea driving the OAN is that thousands of ideas will produce potential solutions that can be turned into best practices for communities who are looking to solve post-disaster and economic hurdles.

OAN is the first "site to offer open source architectural plans and blueprints on the web," the website said.
