Website helps to store patient prescription information online for quick access during emergencies | 06.07.2007 | 10:03:13 | Views: 7193 | ID: June 7 '07: A new website has been launched which compiles medical patients' prescription information such as drug interaction, patient clinical alerts and therapeutic duplication warnings, GovernmentHealthIT reported. The In Case of Emergency Prescription Database or ICERx.org was developed after thousands of prescription medical records were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. "Using the Web service," GovHealth reported, "in an emergency physicians, pharmacists and other licensed health care professionals can access prescription records compiled from local drug stores, pharmacy benefit managers, state Medicaid programs and other sources." The site is sponsored by Informed Decisions; the National Association of Chain Drug Stores; the National Community Pharmacists Association; and RxHub. To use the site, healthcare professionals must register and pass ID authentication process by the American Medical Association. "The information can be delivered to their e-prescribing or e-medical records systems or accessed through the Web portal," GovHealth wrote.
