Social Networking for emergency preparedness

October 9 '07: Neighborhood America, the organization which provides sponsorship for the National Blueprint, has announced a new enterprise social network solution for businesses, governments and organizations which can help with emergency preparedness and response. The networking technology uses Software as a Service which can help build secure and targeted social networks much like the Essential Public Network.

On their website, Neighborhood America said that by building social networks, organizations and businesses can build relationships with customers and members which help to strengthen trusted peer-to-peer relationships and information sharing.

Company officials said in a press release they hoped the new social networking technology will help customers like the Super-Urban Area Security Initiative which is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security and which works with the country's largest urban areas to provide emergency response best practices and solutions.

These types of information-building and content management network sites differ from other First responder social network community-based emergency response networking sites which were built for responders sharing information about their experiences. However, the two can be combined.
