NC4 announces service to provide DHS with enhanced information sharing and collaboration capabilities | 10.24.2007 | 12:50:10 | Views: 6146 | ID: October 24 '07: Information sharing and situational awareness company, NC4 has announced, a new partnership with the Department of Homeland Security to provide "a trusted secure platform for the rapid dissemination of intelligence data at the (Controlled Unclassified Information) CUI level to 10,000 users" which will include public and private sector recipients on the federal, state, local and tribal levels. NC4 is a for-profit California corporation which provides situational awareness and continuity and connectivity services. The NC4's ESP Group, a subsidiary, maintains the Essential Public Network the result of more than 120 public and private sector leaders coming together to develop a stakeholders' partnership which will create a secure network for non-governmental users to support multiple levels of identities, provenance, permissions and privileges, and the level of security and integrity that would allow federal agencies to broadcast tear-line and SBU information on a threat & location-sensitive basis. NC4's capabilities allow it to maintain an effective information sharing platform. Users can share all types of data, including video, voice, imaging, mapping location tools, GIS and other situational awareness technology. Inside the portal, NC4's technology allows for instant messaging as well as traditional email, board postings and daily news updates. According to the press release, "the terms of the one-year contract ... NC4 will deliver, host, and manage the infrastructure and security for the I&A secure portal. NC4 will establish the information sharing portal structure to support and maintain the bi-directional communication among intelligence professional entities."
