Manpower works to rebuild and install sustainable economies after disasters | 01.03.2008 | 14:50:36 | Views: 7913 | ID: January 3 '08: Workforce training and positioning company Manpower Inc., has developed an economic response program to help communities affected by a disaster rebuild their economies sustainably. The company already works to partner with businesses, governments, and non-profits to provide workforce opportunities to "the un-employed and under-employed with the skills, competencies and relevant work experience" to match job demands. One of the programs, the Florida National Emergency Grant was developed after the 2004 hurricane season. A case study written after the program detailed the response and recovery efforts to demolish damaged structures, rebuild community businesses and infrastructure and to provide workforce coordination, payroll processing, and worksite job duties." The result was that more than 1,300 people were able to help assist in the cleanup process while also providing community and location-based employment. More than 60 organizations were able to use the workforce coordinated by Manpower "in their hurricane recovery efforts." And because of its cooperation with the local, state and federal government, Manpower was National Emergency Grant partner of choice which enabled the company to funnel $7.5 million "into the Treasure Coast economy to help restore communities after the devastation of the hurricanes."(Click below to download file) manpower-rebranding.pdf
