Past Super Bowl security operations have included 3-D imaging, X-ray capabilities of all delivery trucks, background checks of those working in the stadium real-time, situational awareness capabilities to help security officials communicate before, during and after the game. On its website, NS Microwave said it supplies "Covert, Overt and Remote Wireless Surveillance systems and products to US Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement, as well as to the US Military." Mitch Kelsey, who is with the Special Operations Division of the Glendale Police Department said that they chose the NS Microwave solution because of the need to have "a comprehensive solution to a very complex situation. Faced with several disparate video systems that covered a variety of business partners, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that NS Microwave had the ability, as well as the flexibility" to handle all the requirements needed. Coordination among security officials, teams, coaches, police and all other stakeholders is the focus for theUniversity of Southern Mississippi's Spectator Sports Security Management program. Although not participating in the Super Bowl's security events, the program's Director Lou Marciani told the New York Times that preparedness, coordination, training and dissemination of information was critical to ensure a safe event.
