New biodetection technology released by partnership | 03.26.2008 | 15:45:42 | Views: 5886 | ID: March 26 '08: Innovative Biosensors has announced a new bio-monitoring technology partnership with Universal Detection Technology to develop a new early-warning monitoring which will "protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats," a press release reported. Under the new partnership, "both IBI and UDTT will market and distribute their partner's biodetection equipment, in addition to their own products, broadening their ability to develop complete solutions for building and other security applications across government, military and commercial markets," the press release read. IBI's BioFlash biological detector has the capability to identify pathogens and biomaterials quickly in the field. The BioFlash "uses proprietary aerosol collection technology" for a "stand-alone" solution which relies on the MIT CANARY technology. UDTT's BSM-2000 was developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The BSM-2000 can detect abnormal levels of airborne bacterial spores such as anthrax which have typically been difficult and time-consuming to kill.
